Virtual Event: Celebrating Women’s Day and International Hijab Day
March 8, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FREE
In celebration of both Women’s Day and International Hijab Day, which was on February 1st, the DeKalb Public Library will present a virtual, educational event highlighting the importance of the hijab for Muslim women.
This event will include interviews, live and recorded, with Muslim women from various backgrounds, a presentation on the history of the hijab and the achievements of Muslim women, a tutorial on how to wear the hijab, and a question and answer session with the panelist.
The hijab is often seen as a sign of oppression. Through this event we hope to create understanding, erase misconceptions, and develop mutual respect for one another.
Please register for this event at dkpl.org. Once you register you will receive a confirmation email with a link to the Zoom meeting, a phone number to call into the Zoom meeting, and a password to the meeting. Join the Zoom meeting 5 minutes prior to the program, especially if you haven’t used Zoom before.
