Veteran’s Day Celebrations
November 9 - November 11
• November 9th – Special Veteran’s Day program at Kishwaukee College honoring veterans and veteran students. Ceremony 11:00 AM. –
Welcome from the President of Kishwaukee College Laurie Borowicz, National Anthem will be sung by Rochelle High School junior Luke Smarto, performance from the DeKalb High School Chamber Orchestra, and Guest Speaker Steve Korth who is an Army Veteran and Kish alum and helped found the first ever Kish Vets Club back in 1969. Additional Speaker, DeKalb Veteran Cohen Barnes.

11:00 AM – Veteran’s Day Formal Ceremony – DeKalb Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Clock –
DeKalb’s Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Clock, located at 1st Street and Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. This WWI Veterans Tribute Clock in DeKalb, Illinois, honors those WWI veterans (DeKalb County) who served their country and lost their lives. Please join our community tribute at the brief ceremony that will be hosted by the DeKalb American Legion Post 66 which includes a welcome, laying of a remembrance wreath, prayer, TAPS, and a 3 volley salute by the Post 66 Honor Guard.
02:30 PM – College Football at DeKalb American Legion – UAB vs Navy
Starting at 4:00 PM the DeKalb & Sycamore ELKS will be hosting a complimentary meal for all Veterans.
Annual Veteran’s Dinner: drive-thru dinner, of Roasted Pork Loin and sides, at Faranda’s from 4 to 6 p.m. sponsored by the DeKalb and Sycamore Elk Lodges. Members may purchase dinners to support the free meals provided to Veterans. All Veterans are encouraged to sign up to receive their Thank you Dinner and you do not need to be an Elk to enjoy dinner.
