The hot fiddle of Dennis Stroughmatt

April 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FREE

This fiddler from the Wabash River region of Southeastern Illinois will entertain with stories of Southern Illinois fiddler “Pappy Wade Ray,” and country and western swing music from old-time radio’s Barn Dances. The free program is sponsored by the Hinckley Historical Society, the Hinckley Public Library, and Illinois Humanities.
Wade Ray, was one of the most endearing entertainers who gained national recognition through the medium of radio and programs like the “National Barn Dance” on WLS in Chicago.
This program is part of the Illinois Humanities program to bring various types of programs from talented individuals to share with audiences throughout the state. The Hinckley Historical Society and its museum seek to preserve the history of Hinckley and the surrounding rural areas for future generations.
