The Hinckley Historical Society is holding its second cemetery walk on September 24 at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, located on North Somonauk Road south of U.S. Route 30. During the program, the Historical Society will share the cemetery’s history and stories connected to several  people buried at Greenwood.

The event will also include the dedication of a marker to Fannie Patterson, the first African-American graduate of Northern Illinois State Normal School, now known as Northern Illinois University.

The cemetery walk is free and open to the public, and guests will have an opportunity to make a donation to the Hinckley Historical Society.
