DKPL: Virtual Informational Session with RAMP
December 3, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
There are 54 million Americans living with a disability. That’s nearly 1 in 5. However, it is not only people with disabilities who are concerned about disability related issues. Over 29% of families in the United States have one or more members with a disability.
Established in 1980, RAMP is a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL) that emulates the Independent Living Philosophy with a mission that promotes an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities. RAMP is a passionate partner for people with disabilities desiring to live a useful and rewarding life. They empower people with disabilities to realize there are no limits to what they can do. They accomplish this by assisting them to live independently, make changes in their own lives, seek peer support, obtain resources and remove barriers that threaten their dreams of independence. RAMP advocates the implementation of current laws, promotion of needed legislation and improvement of existing systems for persons with disabilities while working to diminish negative attitudes that threaten to impede equal access.
Join us for a virtual information session to learn about the services that RAMP provides. We will cover our Fast Track program that lays the foundation for high school students with disabilities to reach their full potential. We will also discuss Project SEARCH, a unique, business led, one-year school to work transition program that takes place entirely in the workplace.
