The Celebration Chorale announces its upcoming annual Christmas cantata, “The Promise of Light,” which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd, and Sunday, December 4th at 2:00 p.m. The production will be held at First United Methodist Church, 317 North 4th Street in DeKalb. The musical created by Joel Raney is an inspiring celebration of God’s gift of eternal light! Traditional Christmas carols are masterfully blended with original music to tell the timeless story of the birth of Christ — the light of the world. An entirely unique feature to this musical is the 4-hand piano accompaniment and handbell choir. Although the Celebration Chorale practices and performs at FUMC in DeKalb, the musicians come from all over the area and include professionals and amateurs, longtime Chorale members, and those who are new to the group. The Chorale has singers representing over nine different church denominations and 10 local communities.
