Elburn Metra Train Station

Catch the Union Pacific/West Line (UP-W) Metra train from the Elburn Metra Train Station to Chicago and the West suburbs. To reach the Elburn station, take the Veolia Transportation Huskie Bus Line from DeKalb and Cortland. The Route 12 bus provides five trips each morning and evening on weekdays, with increased service during Break Service times offering three trips in the AM and PM. Saturday and Sunday schedules have been adjusted to better align with the Metra schedule. As of February 6, 2023, Route 12 fares are reduced to $2.00 for the general public and $1.00 for NIU students and staff with a ONE card. Tickets can be purchased online or with cash on the bus. Passengers traveling between NIU and Cortland pay local fares, while those continuing to the Metra station will pay additional fare beyond Cortland.
