Merritt Prairie
Donated by NIU professors Jim and Helen Merritt in 1989, Merritt Prairie in DeKalb, Illinois, is a 56-acre preserve is one of the hilliest spots in DeKalb County. It features 2.5 miles of trails, the historic Pierce Town Hall, and a mix of cool-season pasture, prairie plantings, and wetland areas that enhance native biodiversity.
