The story of the Ellwood House reflects the central role of Isaac Ellwood in the development of the barbed wire industry in America. The magnificent estate is also a testimony to three generations of the Ellwood family whose tastes shaped the evolution of the house and grounds.

Guided tours of both the Ellwood Mansion and the Ellwood-Nehring House are available March – November. ┬áThe Visitor Center houses two exhibits that are free to the public and open daily 12:30-4:30PM (closed Mondays).

Event rental is also available March to November in the Ellwood-Nehring House and the Hearthside Room in the visitor center. Both have a capacity up to 80.
