County Farm Woods

County Farm Woods, tucked behind a shopping center along Sycamore Road in DeKalb, Illinois, formerly was the wooded back yard for the old County Nursing Home. With the nursing home removed, this little green oasis between housing and commercial development contains a few of DeKalb’s oldest Oak trees and a “naturalized” retention pond. It can be accessed by a loop trail along the DeKalb Park District Nature Trail. When you visit, odds are good that you will can catch a glimpse of urban deer that frequent the site.
