NIU STEM Café: Skyscapes: Using Time-lapse Photography to Unlock the Mysteries of Storms
March 16, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FREE
Learn about severe and hazardous weather and how time-lapse photography can unlock the mysteries of storms. Walker Ashley, NIU professor of meteorology and atmospheric sciences, will share time-lapse imagery captured from storm chasing, satellites and radar to demonstrate thunderstorm formation, rainfall patterns and tornado vulnerabilities. We’ll gain an appreciation for the beauty of storms and skyscapes and learn to capture our own time-lapse imagery, while giving due respect to the hazards storms can create.
NIU STEM Cafés are fun, casual gatherings where adults can eat, drink, and chat with STEM professionals about the latest scientific research. These events are free and open to the public.
