“In Denmark, winters are especially long, yet Danish people are considered some of the happiest in the world. They embrace the dark winter months with the joyful practice of Hygge (pronounced ‘HOO-gah’) meaning coziness, candlelight, nature, and meeting with friends.” – Emma Mitchell from Making Winter: a Hygge-inspired Guide to Surviving the Winter Months.
Beat the winter blues with an immersive experience focusing on intentional happiness and community with Scandinavian-inspired arts and crafts, meditative coloring, peaceful music, and tasty treats. You’ll gain some tips to create “hygge,” and choose from a selection of library books which inspire joy and relaxation to bring home.
In March, we prepare for spring’s emergence by making a homemade cleaning spray scented with essential oils, craft a frame with spring flowers, paint a garden ornament, and sip fruit and herbal teas flavored with local honey sticks provided by Big Red’s Heavenly Honey.
