The Hinckley Historical Society invites the public to its summer band concert series at the Hinckley Community Building Park. The free concerts from 6 to 8 p.m. feature a variety of music in a Ravinia Style setting at 100 N Maple Street, Hinckley. Bring your lawn chair, snacks, and enjoy the small town atmosphere.
On Wednesday June 12, the NIU Steelband will provide a variety of music styles featuring the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago. The concert will present music from the Caribbean that will relax and soothe the sole.
On Thursday June 27, Shade Tree Music Company will perform country, pop, rock and patriotic music. The popular local group plays favorite tunes from various decades and will put you in the mood to celebrate our country’s birthday. The Hinckley Festival and Fireworks is planned for Saturday June 29.
On Tuesday July 16, Ed Wagner’s German Brass Band will entertain with polkas and waltzes from their repertoire of over 600 German, Austrian, and Czech music. The 8-piece group is the only authentic German Polka band in the Chicagoland area.
The series ends on Thursday August 15, when Gavin Coyle’s Irish Band entertains with traditional songs from Ireland and American Irish favorites. Gavin, a native of Derry, Northern Ireland, will captivate with his stories, songs, and instruments.
The Hinckley Historical Society concerts are meant to recall a time in our history when the community gathered to relax, enjoy free musical entertainment, and celebrate their successes. The concerts are made possible by grants from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation and Resource Bank.
