Heating Up with DeKalb County’s 2026 Summer Events
From hometown festivals and celebrations to live music, classic cars, and agricultural traditions, DeKalb County is preparing for another unforgettable summer packed with events across the county.
The summer season officially kicks off Memorial Day weekend with Genoa Days from May 27–30, bringing carnival rides, entertainment, food, and community spirit to downtown Genoa. Later in June, residents and visitors can celebrate culture and community during Juneteenth festivities on June 19–20.
Festival season continues with Malta Days Festival on June 26–27, featuring live music, family activities, food vendors, a beer garden, and fireworks. That same weekend also includes the annual Good Time for All Festival in Hinckley and Sandwich Freedom Days, both offering summer traditions, entertainment, and fireworks celebrations.
Patriotic festivities continue throughout early July with multiple Fourth of July celebrations across the county, including Kirkland 4th of July Celebration & Parade, celebrations in Shabbona and DeKalb, and the DeKalb County America 250 Ceremony on July 8, recognizing America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Mid-summer brings an exciting mix of entertainment, music, and community events. July highlights include Waterman Lions Summer Fest and Antique Tractor & Truck Show on July 18, known for family activities, tractors, entertainment, and community fun. Visitors can also enjoy the popular Back Alley Market (DeKalb), Cocktails at the Crib (Sycamore), the Drum & Bugle Corps performances at Northern Illinois University, and the Sip N’ Savor (Sycamore) event celebrating local flavors and craft beverages.
Classic car lovers can head to Sycamore Turning Back Time Weekend & Car Show in the heart of downtown Sycamore on July 26, while August brings even more signature DeKalb County experiences.
Agriculture, heritage, and small-town traditions take center stage in August with Cortland Summer Fest on August 7–8, featuring live music, vendors, and family entertainment. That same weekend also includes the beloved DeKalb County Barn Tour, offering a unique look at the county’s rich agricultural history and historic barns.
Later in August, visitors can experience the long-running Sycamore Steam Show & Threshing Bee from August 13–16, showcasing antique steam engines, tractors, demonstrations, and agricultural heritage. Food and music lovers can then enjoy Sycamore Ribs, Rhythm & Brews Fest on August 22 and the always-popular DeKalb Corn Fest from August 28–30, one of DeKalb County’s largest summer festivals featuring Ag Alley, carnival rides, food, and entertainment. This year’s music lineup includes Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, Otown, Ryan Cabrera, and LFO.
The summer season wraps up with one of Illinois’ most iconic events, the Sandwich Fair from September 9–13, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for carnival rides, agricultural exhibits, entertainment, food, and family traditions. The Friday night headliner is yet to be announced, but you can count on the lively tractor pulls and demolition derby on Thursday and Sunday.
