12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

History teacher and Civil War era expert Dennis Maher will present his fascinating program Family, Friends and Social Relationships of Abraham Lincoln.

History is shaped by individuals who have changed the course of history through small or large acts. These people themselves, like everybody-are influenced by individuals we have chosen to live with, work with and socialize with-that is the vehicle of history! Abraham Lincoln was no different. He had family, friends and business associates. As Lincoln said, “I will destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.” The program will follow his life from his birth in Kentucky to his early rise in politics in Illinois. We will highlight his personal experience that later shaped him as a man and politician.

This program is free, registration is not required, and everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Teresa at teresai@dkpl.org or (815) 756-9568 ext. 2114.
