In September 2024 the Glidden Homestead will host “Barb City’s Barbed Wire Weekend\,” a nationwide barbed wire collector expo\, open to the public\, that will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Glidden’s “The Winner” barbed wire patent.\n\nHoliday at the Homestead will be held on the second floor of the home\, only accessible by a flight of stairs. SUMMARY:Celebration Chorale Christmas Cantata - "Christmas Dreams"
DESCRIPTION:The Celebration Chorale announces its upcoming annual Christmas cantata\, “Christmas Dreams\,” which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday\, December 1st and 2nd\, and Sunday\, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. The production will be held in the new sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church\, located at 2501 North Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb. \n\n\n\nThis cantata tells the Christmas story with fresh perspective. Throughout time\, God has touched and motivated hearts through dreams and visions. Christmas Dreams visits these moments in scripture and connects the experiences of ancient times with our modern journey of faith. The Chorale welcomes the return of the Celebration Chorale Orchestra and is excited to add a small drama team to the production. The Celebration Chorale and Orchestra are under the direction of Christine Monteiro. \n\n\n\nAlthough the Celebration Chorale practices and performs at FUMC in DeKalb\, the musicians come from all over the area and include professionals and amateurs\, longtime Chorale members\, and those who are new to the group. The Chorale has singers representing over nine different church denominations and 10 local communities. \n\n\n\nThere is no charge for the performances at the church\, but a free-will offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served after each performance. The church is a disability accessible facility with plenty of parking in front of the church. \n\n\n\nFor information about the concerts\, or for information on joining the Celebration Chorale call Sally Mullis\, Celebration Chorale Leadership Team President at (815) 739-6087\, send an email to thecelebrationchorale@gmail.com\, or visit their Facebook page at\, The Celebration Chorale.

SUMMARY:Stage Coach Players present: The Best Christmas Pageant
DESCRIPTION:Additional shows Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th at 2:00pm \n  \nBeth Bradley’s church’s Christmas pageant is predictable every year — the angel choir sings off key\, the shepherds are all in their father’s bathrobes\, the minister’s son is permanently cast in the role of Joseph. It is hardly “four-star entertainment.” But when seasoned and authoritative pageant director Mrs. Armstrong breaks her leg\, it is up to Beth’s inexperienced mother Grace to step in. The timing couldn’t be worse\, as the rambunctious Herdman children\, a rough and tough group of siblings from the wrong side of the tracks\, descend upon the pageant\, lured by the promise of free dessert at Sunday school\, and determined to win all the lead roles for themselves. The Ladies’ Aid Society members are beside themselves with disapproval\, all the shepherds quit because Gladys Herdman “hits too hard”\, the show is briefly re-titled “Revenge at Bethlehem\,” and the church catches on fire. But Beth and her community watch in surprise as the same old Christmas story is rejuvenated by the creativity\, energy\, and unexpected sincerity of a misunderstood young family. \nMary Robinson’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever\, based on her novel of the same name\, is a widely beloved Christmas tale\, warm and incredibly funny\, full of characters both relatable and utterly unique. \nCast “Ham” \n\nMother/ Grace Bradley – Michelle Tolliver\nFather/ Bob Bradley – Jason Reed\nMrs. Armstrong – Liz Botts\nMrs. McCarthy – Adrianna Aumann-Weyenberg\nReverend Hopkins – Larry Rapach\n\n\nBeth Bradley – Arabella Marruffo\nCharlie Bradley – Evan Wiles\nAlice Wendleken -Tessa Spengler\nMaxine – Ginny Keating\nImogene Herdman – Daphne Wise\nRalph Herdman – Elijah Botts\nGladys Herdman – Ella Rittemeyer\nLeroy Herdman – Logan Pollack\nClaude Herdman – Oscar Boies\nOllie Herdman – Sammie Pollack\nElmer Hopkins – Drew Tolliver\nHobie – Chloe Moeller\nDavie – Lily Becker\nBeverly/ Shirley/ Juanita – Lucy Schenider\n\nCast “Halo” \n\nMother/ Grace Bradley – Michelle Tolliver\nFather/ Bob Bradley – Jason Reed\nMrs. Armstrong – Liz Botts\nMrs. McCarthy – Adrianna Aumann-Weyenberg\nReverend Hopkins – Larry Rapach\n\n\nBeth Bradley – Lorelei Storey\nCharlie Bradley – Louie Boies\nAlice Wendleken – Tatum Crouch\nMaxine – Shelby Joyner\nImogene Herdman – Iris Wiles\nRalph Herdman – Alexa Adams\nGladys Herdman – Samantha Kudelka\nLeroy Herdman – Olivia Steger\nClaude Herdman – John Holler\nOllie Herdman – Kairi Burnham\nElmer Hopkins – Grayson Campbell\nDavie – Mila Yates\nBeverly/ Shirley – Delaney Cook\nJuanita/ Doris – Iris Reed
