DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 54 years on the beautiful courthouse lawn in historic Sycamore\, Illinois\, the Kishwaukee Valley Art League will hold its annual Northern Illinois Art Show on May 31 & June 1. This two day juried show features 60 to 70 artisans exhibiting fine arts and crafts in a variety of mediums including watercolor\, oil painting\, pencil sketching\, fabric art\, woodworking\, pastels\, photography\, ceramics\, garden art\, jewelry\, fused glass and other three-dimensional media. KVAL member artists also offer a group exhibit with all media. The Art of Giving raffle is a popular part of the show. Customers can win original pieces of artwork donated by KVAL members. Admission to the show is free to the public. Musical entertainment adds to the show’s relaxing atmosphere and food is provided by the local Boy Scout Troop 33.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 54 years on the beautiful courthouse lawn in historic Sycamore\, Illinois\, the Kishwaukee Valley Art League will hold its annual Northern Illinois Art Show on May 31 & June 1. This two day juried show features 60 to 70 artisans exhibiting fine arts and crafts in a variety of mediums including watercolor\, oil painting\, pencil sketching\, fabric art\, woodworking\, pastels\, photography\, ceramics\, garden art\, jewelry\, fused glass and other three-dimensional media. KVAL member artists also offer a group exhibit with all media. The Art of Giving raffle is a popular part of the show. Customers can win original pieces of artwork donated by KVAL members. Admission to the show is free to the public. Musical entertainment adds to the show’s relaxing atmosphere and food is provided by the local Boy Scout Troop 33.

SUMMARY:Annie's Story Time
DESCRIPTION:Story time will be held on the lawn of the Glidden Homestead\, 921 W. Lincoln Highway (next to Glidden Florist)\, and will be moved indoors if inclement weather. These programs are held monthly at 1 pm on the first Sunday of each month\, starting on May 4. \n\n\n\nThese interactive story times for children may feature songs\, movement and more. This event is free. No registration is required. \n\n\n\nAnnie’s Story Time is named for Joseph F. Glidden’s niece\, Annie Glidden\, who was a major promoter of DeKalb’s cultural and social causes during her lifetime. In 1898\, seeing the need to supply the recently formed DeKalb Public Library with good books\, Annie formed the Library Whist Club. On Monday afternoons\, this group of women came together to play the card game whist. Monies from their membership dues were used for library book purchases. To date\, the library has received over 10\,000 volumes from their activities.
