Delicious organic French pastries from St. Roger’s Abbey\, Fraternite de Notre Dame Greek pastries and spanakopitas from the bakers of St\, George Greek Orthodox Church Baked goods\, beverages\, and hearty lunch soup prepared by UUCD cooks\, including a seating area for eating and conversing with friends and family\, a large variety of artisan crafts from an additional 20+ local vendors. The ever popular\, Used Book Sale\, with new inventory\, located in the UUCD Library\, with paperbacks priced at 50 cents or under\, and most hardbacks priced at $1. With all this cutting-edge research comes potential risks – whether that’s a laboratory fire or a human-subject data breach. Join us to learn about all the work that goes on at NIU behind the scenes to keep researchers and human and animal subjects safe during complex research projects. \nYou’ll hear from employees in the NIU Office of Research Compliance\, Integrity\, and Safety (ORCIS) about some of the legal\, physical and ethical risks that research can pose. They’ll share cautionary tales of research gone wrong and describe steps the ORCIS office takes to prevent such mistakes.
