DESCRIPTION:The two-day AARP Smart Driver will be offered at DeKalb Township (2323 S. 4th St.\, DeKalb) on Dec. 10th & Dec. 11th (9 AM – 1 PM). This course teaches valuable defensive driving strategies and provides a refresher of the rules of the road. The course has been recently updated with new content\, so attendees will receive the most up-to-date information about driving in Illinois. Participants may also qualify for a multi-year automobile insurance discount by completing the course. Anyone interested in learning more about this discount should contact their automobile insurance provider. \nSpace is limited and attendees must pre-register for the course by calling the DeKalb Township at 815-758-8282. The classroom course costs $20 for AARP Members and $25 for non-members. Financial Assistance is available to qualifying DeKalb Township residents who are unable to cover the cost of the course on their own. All inquiries about this course can be directed to Kimberly at the DeKalb Township. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Celebration Chorale announces its upcoming annual Christmas cantata\, “The Song of Bethlehem” which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Saturday\, December 7th and Sunday\, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. The production will be held at First United Methodist Church\, 2501 North Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb. \n“The Song of Bethlehem” is a celebratory collection of new songs and familiar carols that culminate with the adoration of the newborn baby.  Also included in the cantata is a collection of three seasonal favorites from the “Home Alone” movie series.  The Celebration Chorale is under the direction of Christine Monteiro. \nAlthough the Celebration Chorale practices and performs at FUMC in DeKalb\, the musicians come from all over the area and include professionals and amateurs\, longtime Chorale members\, and those who are new to the group. The Chorale has singers representing over nine different church denominations and 10 local communities. \nThere is no charge for the performances at the church\, but a free-will offering will be taken. The church is an accessible facility.
