Tour the garden\, taste veggies and herbs\, and volunteer in the DeKalb County Community Gardens/Northwestern Medicine Garden assisting with: Watering plants Seeding and planting veggies Harvesting for DCCG Distribution Weeding The garden is a 1.5-acre growing space at 2475 Bethany Road in Sycamore\, a community garden space managed by DeKalb County Community Gardens. In 2023\, over 2\,000lbs. of fresh produce were harvested for DCCG distribution. The vegetables we harvest are shared with neighbors throughout the entire county. This program is open to all ages. No registration is required. Please wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty\, and close-toed shoes.

You’ll enjoy your favorite covers from Joe Diffie to Metallica! Come out and join as part of their “rowdy crowd family.” \n\n\n\n4-6 PM – The Awfully Good – The Awfully Good started with a simple idea: take slow\, sappy and soft rock covers (and some downright awful tunes) and give them a kick in the pants with an upbeat rock edge to make them good! The Awfully Good doesn’t hold back – no genre or decade is sacred. The female fronted band reimagines songs from The Beatles to Lady Gaga and Bryan Adams to Bruno Mars. Their unique sound gives new life to these sleepy covers with a high-energy hard rock tone complemented by melodic vocals. \n\n\n\n6-8 PM – Buford T Judd and the Dump Trucks – With their roots in southern Illinois\, BTJ beginnings and their journey of musicianship dates back to adolescence. The band mates have played together in various ensembles throughout their careers and have assembled together to form a fiery quartet worthy of your approval. The BTJ breadbasket of music is classic rock\, blues\, country\, southern rock\, and alternative. \n\n\n\nFay’s Finest Food will be grilling all day\, and The Press Box will be slinging gourmet sandwiches and wraps. \n\n\n\nThis is an outdoor\, SHINE only event. SUMMARY:Hinckley Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:The Hinckley Historical Society invites the public to its summer band concert series at the Hinckley Community Building Park. The free concerts from 6 to 8 p.m. feature a variety of music in a Ravinia Style setting at 100 N Maple Street\, Hinckley. Bring your lawn chair\, snacks\, and enjoy the small town atmosphere. \n\n\n\nOn Wednesday June 12\, the NIU Steelband will provide a variety of music styles featuring the steelpan\, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago. The concert will present music from the Caribbean that will relax and soothe the sole. \n\n\n\nOn Thursday June 27\, Shade Tree Music Company will perform country\, pop\, rock and patriotic music. The popular local group plays favorite tunes from various decades and will put you in the mood to celebrate our country’s birthday. The Hinckley Festival and Fireworks is planned for Saturday June 29. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday July 16\, Ed Wagner’s German Brass Band will entertain with polkas and waltzes from their repertoire of over 600 German\, Austrian\, and Czech music. The 8-piece group is the only authentic German Polka band in the Chicagoland area. \n\n\n\nThe series ends on Thursday August 15\, when Gavin Coyle’s Irish Band entertains with traditional songs from Ireland and American Irish favorites. Gavin\, a native of Derry\, Northern Ireland\, will captivate with his stories\, songs\, and instruments. \n\n\n\nThe Hinckley Historical Society concerts are meant to recall a time in our history when the community gathered to relax\, enjoy free musical entertainment\, and celebrate their successes. The concerts are made possible by grants from the Farny R. Join the Theatre staff as they share all the secrets and stories with a ‘balcony to backstage’ tour that focuses not only on the history of the building that opened in 1929 but also all of the Theatre’s ghostly guests. \n\n\n\nThis tour\, which is in the dark using only your flashlights\, starts in our lobby and will include climbing stairs and extended periods of standing. Doors open 30 min prior to the tour beginning. Be sure to grab a drink from the concession stand to make it a truly spirited evening! \n\n\n\nTour Ticket Price – $30 \n\n\n\nEveryone must bring a flashlight for the tour.  10 and older allowed but minors must be accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\nThis evening tour will last approximately 2 hours and the tickets are limited\, so don’t wait!  The tour involves many stairs and no elevator is available.
