Come out and join as part of their “rowdy crowd family.” \n\n\n\n4-6 PM – The Awfully Good – The Awfully Good started with a simple idea: take slow\, sappy and soft rock covers (and some downright awful tunes) and give them a kick in the pants with an upbeat rock edge to make them good! The Awfully Good doesn’t hold back – no genre or decade is sacred. The female fronted band reimagines songs from The Beatles to Lady Gaga and Bryan Adams to Bruno Mars. Their unique sound gives new life to these sleepy covers with a high-energy hard rock tone complemented by melodic vocals. \n\n\n\n6-8 PM – Buford T Judd and the Dump Trucks – With their roots in southern Illinois\, BTJ beginnings and their journey of musicianship dates back to adolescence. The band mates have played together in various ensembles throughout their careers and have assembled together to form a fiery quartet worthy of your approval. The BTJ breadbasket of music is classic rock\, blues\, country\, southern rock\, and alternative. \n\n\n\nFay’s Finest Food will be grilling all day\, and The Press Box will be slinging gourmet sandwiches and wraps. \n\n\n\nThis is an outdoor\, SHINE only event. SUMMARY:Hinckley Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:The Hinckley Historical Society invites the public to its summer band concert series at the Hinckley Community Building Park. The free concerts from 6 to 8 p.m. feature a variety of music in a Ravinia Style setting at 100 N Maple Street\, Hinckley. Bring your lawn chair\, snacks\, and enjoy the small town atmosphere. \n\n\n\nOn Wednesday June 12\, the NIU Steelband will provide a variety of music styles featuring the steelpan\, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago. The concert will present music from the Caribbean that will relax and soothe the sole. \n\n\n\nOn Thursday June 27\, Shade Tree Music Company will perform country\, pop\, rock and patriotic music. The popular local group plays favorite tunes from various decades and will put you in the mood to celebrate our country’s birthday. The Hinckley Festival and Fireworks is planned for Saturday June 29. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday July 16\, Ed Wagner’s German Brass Band will entertain with polkas and waltzes from their repertoire of over 600 German\, Austrian\, and Czech music. The 8-piece group is the only authentic German Polka band in the Chicagoland area. \n\n\n\nThe series ends on Thursday August 15\, when Gavin Coyle’s Irish Band entertains with traditional songs from Ireland and American Irish favorites. Gavin\, a native of Derry\, Northern Ireland\, will captivate with his stories\, songs\, and instruments. \n\n\n\nThe Hinckley Historical Society concerts are meant to recall a time in our history when the community gathered to relax\, enjoy free musical entertainment\, and celebrate their successes. The concerts are made possible by grants from the Farny R. DESCRIPTION:Jazz in Progress will perform their annual free summer Swingin’ the Bandshell concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday\, August 27th at the Dee Palmer Bandshell in Hopkins Park\, 1403 Sycamore Rd.\, DeKalb\, IL. \nMaking music together in the area for over 11 years\, the 18-piece community jazz band will play a variety of music including classic jazz standards\, Swing-era\, funk from the 1960s and ‘70s\, as well as other favorites. The band will also feature a number of vocal and instrumental soloists from within the members of the ensemble. \nJazz in Progress was formed for musical\, charitable\, and educational purposes to support its mission to advance the appreciation\, performance\, and history of jazz music and its related genres. DESCRIPTION:The Twangtown Paramours are a national touring\, award-winning husband and wife duo and band from Nashville. Their music is a blend of Nashville\, New York\, and Austin influences and has been called “Soulful Americana”. Join the DeKalb Public Library in the main lobby as they welcome this band for the first time to perform an after-hours concert! \nSome of the Twangtown Paramours’ tunes are poetic\, but many are just a whole lot of fun. Recently\, other artists have begun recording their songs. They are 3-time Kerrville New Folk finalists and winners of the Wildflower Contest in Richardson\, TX. Their newest full band album\, “Double Down on a Bad Thing” was #11 on the U.K Indie Blues chart last year and #18 on the U.S. RMR Contemporary Blues chart. \nMaryBeth sang background vocals for the late Eva Cassidy. Mike is a session musician\, songwriter\, and producer\, and is the author of a #1 platinum selling pop ballad in Korea. He also sometimes plays upright bass for Jimmie Dale Gilmore. \nThis concert is free and open to all. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Ticket Price: $20.00 for adults; children under 13 are free. \nJoe Jencks sings with a lyric baritone voice that has the edgy richness of a good sea-salt caramel. A 25-year veteran of the international Folk circuit\, an award-winning songwriter and a celebrated vocalist based in the Chicago area\, Joe delivers engaging musical narratives filled with heart\, soul\, groove\, and grit. Blending well-crafted instrumentals and vivid songwriting\, he is known for his performances of musical beauty\, social consciousness\, and spiritual exploration. Jencks has penned several #1 Folksongs including the ever-relevant Lady of The Harbor. From Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center to Festivals across the U.S. and Canada\, Jencks has become a fan favorite throughout North America and beyond. \nJoe’s 2017 CD Poets\, Philosophers\, Workers\, and Wanderers earned #1 Artist\, #1 Album\, and #1 Song on the North American Folk DJ Chart as well as spending several weeks at #1 on the SIRIUS XM Americana Chart.
