DESCRIPTION:Looking to lend a helping hand? DeKalb County Community Gardens needs your help in the garden! Exercise your green thumb by helping the community. Tour the garden\, taste veggies and herbs\, and volunteer in the DeKalb County Community Gardens/Northwestern Medicine Garden assisting with: Watering plants Seeding and planting veggies Harvesting for DCCG Distribution Weeding The garden is a 1.5-acre growing space at 2475 Bethany Road in Sycamore\, a community garden space managed by DeKalb County Community Gardens. In 2023\, over 2\,000lbs. of fresh produce were harvested for DCCG distribution. The vegetables we harvest are shared with neighbors throughout the entire county. This program is open to all ages. No registration is required. Please wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty\, and close-toed shoes.

DESCRIPTION:Join Whiskey Acres Distilling Company for Rock the ACRES for an afternoon of live music\, great drinks\, and incredible food on their outdoor Whiskey Garden. \n\n\n\n$10 admission is required for all guests at their Visitors Center that day and includes an optional tour at 2\, 4 or 6 PM and the following musical lineup: \n\n\n\n2-4 PM – Ryan Craig Band – The Ryan Craig band is a Country Rock Band with a touch of Nashville and is most known for their variety in music. You’ll enjoy your favorite covers from Joe Diffie to Metallica! Come out and join as part of their “rowdy crowd family.” \n\n\n\n4-6 PM – The Awfully Good – The Awfully Good started with a simple idea: take slow\, sappy and soft rock covers (and some downright awful tunes) and give them a kick in the pants with an upbeat rock edge to make them good! The Awfully Good doesn’t hold back – no genre or decade is sacred. The female fronted band reimagines songs from The Beatles to Lady Gaga and Bryan Adams to Bruno Mars. Their unique sound gives new life to these sleepy covers with a high-energy hard rock tone complemented by melodic vocals. \n\n\n\n6-8 PM – Buford T Judd and the Dump Trucks – With their roots in southern Illinois\, BTJ beginnings and their journey of musicianship dates back to adolescence. The band mates have played together in various ensembles throughout their careers and have assembled together to form a fiery quartet worthy of your approval. The BTJ breadbasket of music is classic rock\, blues\, country\, southern rock\, and alternative. \n\n\n\nFay’s Finest Food will be grilling all day\, and The Press Box will be slinging gourmet sandwiches and wraps. \n\n\n\nThis is an outdoor\, SHINE only event. Refunds will be issued if event is cancelled due to weather. \n\n\n\nGeneral Admission. Lawn Seating (bring lawn chair or blanket). All ages welcome. \n\n\n\nNo outside food or beverages allowed.
