NIU eSports Presents: Cafe and Conquer

Welcome to…..the epic Cafe and Conquer event, presented to you by NIU eSports Club, Soylent, and Tespa! This is a competitive multi-tournament gaming event open to all members of the esports community! We will be opening the NIU Esports Cafe for this event only, where you can purchase coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to keep you fueled while you crush the competition. Soylent will be given away free of charge, limit one per player!

What or who is Soylent, you ask? They produce meal replacement beverages in a variety of flavors and are the latest Tespa partner! They will be supplying us with beverages for the tournament, free of charge for everyone!

Are you a worthy challenger? Tournaments will be held to test the mettle of even the strongest competitors in the following esports: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Super Smash Bros. 4, and Rocket League! Details are given below:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Coordinated by Yanni Gaglos:

Format: 2v2 Wingman, best of 1 (30 rounds), Single elimination bracket (subject to change based on team attendance)
Map: Random Wingman Map
Cost: $5 per player, $10 per team.
Prizing: Cash pool

Rocket League – Coordinated by Nathaniel Abbott:

Format: 2v2 Doubles
Bracket: Double elimination bracket (subject to change based on team attendance), Bo3 until finals, final rounds will be Bo5.
Cost: $5 entry fee per player
Prizing: Cash pool. 1st place receives 50% of admissions, 2nd place receives 25% of admissions.

Overwatch – Coordinated by Patrick Blacha

Format: 3v3, Best of 3, Finals will be Best of 5.
Cost: $5 per player
Prize: 1st places receives 50%, and 2nd place receives 25%.

Hearthstone – Coordinated by Andrew Pearson

Super Smash Bros. 4 – Coordinated by Oscar Bahena

Format: Doubles, 2 stock, no items
Bracket: Double elimination, Bo3, with finals run in Bo5
Cost: $5 per player
Prizing: Cash Pool

Special notes: All tournaments except Smash are BYOC, and some will be streamed to the club Twitch channel! The Smash tournament will have setups provided. Members will be allowed to enter any tournament for half off! All rules are subject to change at the club’s discretion

We will also be hosting a Free-Play LAN Arena in the Founder’s Memorial Library Staff Lounge, which will also be the site of the Esports Cafe! This arena will have the club computer available, is BYOC otherwise, and will serve as a fun area to play anything you’d like and relax between your matches!

Please use the ticketing link to tentatively sign up for tournaments so that we can gauge interest! PLEASE NOTE! You may pay your entry fee ONLY via card on site. We will not be accepting cash payments.
