Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum Tours

The Fairview Park Cemetery Association and the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Association (DAAHA) are partnering to host a walking tour at the Fairview Cemetery, as well as tours of the cemetery’s historic and recently refurbished mausoleum.  The event will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27th.  The cemetery is located at 1600 South First Street in DeKalb.

Event Features:

  • A self-guided walking tour starting at the mausoleum. The annotated map will direct visitors to the grave sites of prominent citizens and explain their importance to the community.
  • Forty sites will be listed in the annotated map including the graves of such notable figures as Isaac Ellwood, Jacob Haish, John Glidden, and Annie Glidden.
  • DAAHA volunteers will be on hand to elaborate on the legacies of Charlie Gunn, William Eckhardt, Henry Gurler, Isaac Ellwood, Joseph Glidden, and Jacob Haish.
  • The mausoleum, dedicated in 1915, will also be open to visitors. This beautiful mausoleum has stained glass windows, massive bronze doors, and Norton Blue Bedford stone walls.

The cemetery is located at 1600 South First Street in DeKalb. Join us to celebrate the lives and legends of the people who laid the foundation for our dynamic and progressive community.
