Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum Tours

The Fairview Park Cemetery Association and the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Association (DAAHA) are partnering to host a walking tour at the Fairview Cemetery, as well as tours of the cemetery’s historic and recently refurbished mausoleum. The event will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27th. The cemetery is located at 1600 South First Street in DeKalb.
- A self-guided walking tour starting at the mausoleum. The annotated map will direct visitors to the grave sites of prominent citizens and explain their importance to the community.
- Forty sites will be listed in the annotated map including the graves of such notable figures as Isaac Ellwood, Jacob Haish, John Glidden, and Annie Glidden.
- DAAHA volunteers will be on hand to elaborate on the legacies of Charlie Gunn, William Eckhardt, Henry Gurler, Isaac Ellwood, Joseph Glidden, and Jacob Haish.
- The mausoleum, dedicated in 1915, will also be open to visitors. This beautiful mausoleum has stained glass windows, massive bronze doors, and Norton Blue Bedford stone walls.
