2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Stop by the library to hear the fascinating true life story of the famous Bryant Showboat family as presented by JoAleene Miranda. JoAleene is the fourth generation and granddaughter of Billy Bryant, the owner and proprietor of the famous Bryant Showboat that plied the Ohio and Mississippi rivers in the early part of the twentieth century.

In her program she tells the stories of growing up on a river showboat and what life was like in a time before television, mass communication and even modern transportation. The stories are fascinating, fun, and sometimes hilarious. In addition to her narration JoAleene often acts out characters and sings some songs from the period. It is a complete and interactive program including audience participation and is based on the book “Children of Ol’ Man River”.

This program is free and open to all. Registration is not required. For more information contact Teresa at (815) 756-9568 ext. 2114 or teresai@dkpl.org
