Wednesday, May 22, 2019
Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists is excited to be a partner with Live Healthy DeKalb County’s inaugural Get Active Week. During the week of May 17-26, 2019, health and wellness organizations throughout DeKalb County will offer activities in a collective effort to raise awareness about the resources available to residents in our community. Being active is critical to your health and happiness as well as the overall well-being of our community. We hope this week of awareness will encourage residents to begin a new personal health initiative. As a partner in Get Active Week, Northern Rehab is offering a Body Mechanics: Gardening & Computer Ergonomics Free Event on Wednesday, May 22 at their Sandwich Clinic, 523 E. Railroad Street, Sandwich, at 5:30pm.
This interactive presentation led by Physical Therapist Andrea Carter, PT, DPT, will include several topics that members will actively participate in as they learn the proper way to lift and carry items, proper ways to sit, and exercises you can do at work or at the computer desk to minimize stiffness, pain, and injury. Gardening ergonomics and tips to remain injury free will also be discussed. Various stations will be set up to try during the presentation. A short Q&A session will also be available at the end of the event. Free admission; light refreshments will be served.
