Adaptive Sports Day
Friday, March 24, 2017
The Adaptive Sport Day, on March 24th from 4:00pm-7:00pm, hosted at NIU Campus Recreation in our main gym space is completely FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
Here are some features of our event this year:
-Learn, watch and play a variety of adaptive sports
-Facilitated by Paralympic Sport Clubs the Great Lakes Adaptive Sport Association (GLASA) and the Rehab Institute of Chicago (RIC)
-Meet 3-Time Paralympian and Paralympic medalist Amanda McGrory along with other stellar athletes
-Enjoy generous giveaways from KIND Bars, Chipotle and Jimmy Johns
-Meet others interested in learning more about adaptive sports
There is a drastic disconnect between adaptive and mainstream sport worlds. Our 2nd Annual Adaptive Sports Day showcases the wide variety of available sports for adaptive athletes and community members. The aim of the day is to create a day of ability awareness as well as provide a fantastic venue for learning and playing new sports! In other words, we want to show off athletes and abilities of all kinds, and help challenge the notion that being an “athlete” must involve all limbs and senses without restriction. All ages, all abilities, all interests welcome.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for interests in getting involved, having a table at our event or volunteering your time!
